The LM2901B-Q1 device is the next generation version of the industry-standard LM2901x-Q1 comparator family. This next generation family provides outstanding value for cost-sensitive applications, with features including lower offset voltage, higher supply voltage capability, lower supply current, lower input bias current, lower propagation delay, and improved 2kV ESD performance with drop-in replacement convenience.
All devices consist of four independent voltage comparators that are designed to operate over a wide range of voltages. Operation from dual supplies also is possible as long as the difference between the two supplies is within 2 V to 36 V, and VCC is at least 1.5 V more positive than the input common-mode voltage. The outputs can be connected to other open-collector outputs.
The "V" versions operate up to 32V, and the "B" version operates up to 36V. All are qualified for the AEC-Q100 Grade 1 temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.

Description. The LM2901/2903 series comparators consist of four and two independent precision voltage comparators with very low input offset voltage specification. They are designed to operate from a single power supply over a wide range of voltages; however operation from split power supplies is also possible.
The term "differential comparator" essentially means. "a device that compares and acts on the difference between two variables" so for a comparator to not be differential is, in the strict sense, impossible. The terms differential or (implied) non-differential are more usually used for amplifiers.
In electronics, a comparator is a device that compares two voltages or currents and outputs a digital signal indicating which is larger. It has two analog input terminals and and one binary digital output .
A comparator circuit compares two voltages and outputs either a 1 (the voltage at the plus side; VDD in the illustration) or a 0 (the voltage at the negative side) to indicate which is larger. Comparators are often used, for example, to check whether an input has reached some predetermined value.
A comparator compares two input voltages and outputs a binary signal indicating which is larger. If the non-inverting (+) input is greater than the inverting (-) input, the output goes high. If the inverting input is greater than the non-inverting, the output goes low.
Comparator is used for custom ordering where the class is unaware of the ordering logic. Comparator provides multiple sorting sequence (i.e.) sorting objects based on multiple data members. Example: SuperHero objects can be sorted based on multiple attributes like id, name and age.
Using an op amp as a comparator may lead to difficulties for three major reasons: speed, logic drive capability, and various effects of input structures. Comparators are designed to work with large differential inputs, while op amps are intended for closed-loop operation with both inputs at very similar potentials.
A comparator is an investigational or marketed product (active control) or placebo (inactive control) used as a reference in a clinical trial. The term also refers to investigational medicinal products when the drugs are intended to be manufactured, repacked, or used outside of their registered indications.
The basic difference between the comparator and the amplifier is that the amplifier amplifies the input signal or changes its amplitude level with minimum distortion of original signal but the job of comparator is to compare the two signals and give the indicationt so that we can know which signal has more strength.
Difference between Comparators and Measuring Instruments: Measuring instruments are used to measure the actual dimension of the workpiece, whereas the comparators are used for comparison of the actual dimension with the working standard.
